Alexius I Comnenus, 1081-1118. Histamenon (Electrum, 28 mm, 4.31 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis, 1082-1087. IC - XC Christ, nimbate, seated facing on square-backed throne, wearing tunic and pallium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left. Rev. + AΛЄΙΙⲰ ΔЄCΠΟΤ, ΤⲰ Bust of Alexius I facing, wearing chlamys and crown with pendilia, holding scepter surmounted by pelleted star in his right hand and globus cruciger in his left. DOC 2a. SB 1893. Many scratches and graffiti, otherwise, fine.
